Rain Once Again Stops Activities At ODS………..

For the second week in a row, heavy thunderstorms throughout the area halted all activities at the Old Dominion Speedway in Manassas, VA. Thunderstorms forcasted to pass through the area quickly, stalled over the Manassas area long enough to force track Promoter Dick Gore to call off the program. About 2-3 inches of rain fell on the speedway in less than a hour , which left standing water in the infield and on the speedway. Once that storm passed through, another came through about 30 minutes later. “Last week, the weatherman said there were several storms in the area, so I called the program when the first storm came through”, Gore said. “So this time I wanted to wait this one out to see if what was forcasted was correct. This time it was”, he added. Scheduled activities for all divisions, highlighted by the Popeye’s 200 lap NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Presented by Dodge Late Model Stock Cars, were on tap for the night. “We are going to do what we can to get the 18 races in that is required by NASCAR for our drivers to be eligible for the regional points deal”, Gore said.
