Rain Forces Cancellation Of Activities AT ODS……………..

For the first time in 2002, rain has forced the cancellation of all activities at the Old Dominion Speedway in Manssas, VA. Heavy rains that had been predicted, pelted the speedway at around 3:20 PM, and forced track promoter Dick Gore to cancel all events scheduled for the night. “I checked the National Weather Service and this is just the first of a couple of lines of thunderstorms in the area,” Gore said. “There really isn’t any sense to attempt to try to get this one in,” he added. The activities included twin 50 lap features for the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Presented by Dodge Late Model Stock Cars, along with features for the Grand Stocks, Mini Stocks, and Speedway Sportsman. The twin 50 lap events have been re-scheduled for Saturday night, August 10th. Next Saturday night will be the Popeye’s 200 lap feature for the Late Models. Also on the schedule will be a 50 lap feature for the Redman Fleet Service Grand Stocks, 30 laps for the Mini Stocks, 25 laps for the Gaston Automotive Speedway Sportsman, and 20 lap features for the BDE Racing Series Champ Karts and Mini Cups. The BDE Racing Series features will begin at 6:30 PM, with stock car racing set to take the green at 7:00 PM.
