Attention: Late Model, Grand Stock, Speedway Sportsman, & Mini-Stock

As many of you know, Old Dominion Speedway will run a Goodyear Tire this year

for its Late Model, Grand Stock, Speedway Sportsman, and Mini-Stock classes. Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company has provided the following information to Old Dominion Speedway for your use.

GOODYEAR RACING TIRE INFORMATION

Late Model Grand Stock & Speedway Sportsman Information:

Size: The D-2403/D-1882 is marked at the factory at 30psi. When selecting stager take that into consideration. For example, if you wanted 2" of stager you would pick out an 86" and 87" tire. Getting 1" on the mark difference. Since they were marked at 30psi, there will be an additional 1" of stager with left to right pressure difference. Also remember that the Goodyear tire has a much stiffer sidewall. This will make the tire flex much less in the turn losing less stager. Most cars that switch from Hoosier to Goodyear will use less stager.

Pressure: The Goodyear tire being stiffer is a higher-pressure tire. We recommend starting pressures of 27psi to 30psi cold right side and 16psi to 18psi cold left side. Due to stiffer sidewall, a tire run too low on pressure will handle poorly until the pressure is built up but it will also gain build up much too fast.

Break in procedure: All Goodyear tires should be broken in with the following procedure. When the tires are new, run 5 laps at speed in the turns. Bring the car in and let the tires cool to outside temperature. This will help make the tires repeat.

Helpful Hints:

1. The Goodyear tire being stiffer will tighten up a car set up on Hoosier.

2. You will need to run the higher pressures cold 28psi right and 18psi left.

3. You will use less stager, due to the stiffer sidewall the tire deflects less in

the turn and maintains more stager.

4. Run with proper pressure and break-in you can get excellent repeatability

out of the D-2403/D-1882.

Mini-Stock Information

Size: D2331 - These tires are not marked at the factory. When measuring, always measure in the same place for all the tires you check. The average is for every " of split you measure you will get 1" of stager. Then allow another 1" for left to right side air difference.

Pressure: The Goodyear tire being stiffer is a higher-pressure tire. We recommend starting pressures of 30psi to 33psi cold right side and 20psi to 23psi cold left side.

2. You will need to run the higher pressures cold 30psi right and 20psi left.

3. You will use less stager, due to the stiffer sidewall the tire deflects less in

4. Run with proper pressure and break-in you can get repeatability.
